Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival

Last night I visited the Rio Theatre on Commercial Drive to watch VIMFF entry Hadwin's Judgement - a documentary inspired by John Vaillant's critically acclaimed book The Golden Spruce.  Being only my second experience at a film festival, and first at the Rio, it brought light to all of the great films and stories we miss out on that aren't pumped up by outrageous Hollywood budgets and big name actors.  VIMFF is driven by "passion for film, culture, and the outdoors..." seeking to "...advance appreciation of films and film-making while inspiring, informing, and educating the public in these areas".  Highly recommended.

Tickets are still available for a variety of films through until Sunday, with evening showings at North Vancouvers' Centennial Theatre.  Visit the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival website to preview shows and purchase tickets.
