Halloween on the North Shore

Oct. 28, 2025 | See+Do | By Matt Council

Halloween on the North Shore is equal parts cozy, spooky, and walkable—which is basically our brand. Here’s your quick guide to the best family-friendly events, a few after-dark options, and what’s still happening this weekend.

Headliners

Canyon Frights at Capilano Suspension Bridge (On now – Nov 2)
The bridge and forest are lit up nightly with glowing pumpkins, “graveyards,” and a scavenger hunt for kids. Live entertainment runs most evenings, and you can book timed tickets online. Park hours extend to 9:00 p.m. on Oct 31–Nov 2.

Lower Lonsdale Trick-or-Treat (Fri, Oct 31, 3:30–5:30 p.m.)
The Shipyards District teams up with the City of North Vancouver: follow the black-and-orange signage and hit more than 60 participating businesses for treats. Great for younger kids (and parents who prefer sidewalks to soggy lawns).

Pumpkin Drop at CNV Fire Hall (Sat, Nov 1, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
Bring your post-Halloween pumpkins to 165 E 13th St and watch firefighters drop them from the five-storey hose tower. By donation; proceeds support the CNV Firefighters’ Charitable Foundation. It’s weirdly satisfying.

Kids Night Out: Halloween Edition (Thu, Oct 30, 5:30–8:00 p.m.)
Drop-off evening for kids at 1570 Argyle Ave. Handy if you need a couple of hours to prep costumes, carve the pumpkin you forgot about, or just sit down for once.

More Family-Friendly Options (this week & weekend)

  • Maplewood Farm
Not specifically a Halloween event this week, but still a slam-dunk fall outing with little ones (animals, fresh air, and photos that scream “North Shore in October”). Maplewood Farm >>

After-Dark(ish) Without Full-Tilt Horror

  • Canyon Frights, Evening Visit
If you want a Halloween vibe without jump scares, book a dusk slot at Cap Bridge. It’s atmospheric, photogenic, and walkable for mixed-age groups. Capilano Suspension Bridge >>

Safety & Local Rules (worth knowing)

  • No consumer fireworks in the City of North Vancouver unless it’s an approved public display with a certified supervisor and a permit. Translation: leave the rockets at home. City of North Vancouver >>
  • RCMP Halloween reminder for North Vancouver: general safety tips and a note that fireworks aren’t permitted in the City of North Vancouver and on Squamish Nation lands. RCMP >>

Quick Planner (dates & times)

Pro tips from a local realtor who’s carried a pumpkin up Lonsdale (don’t judge)

  • Parking: Shipyards fills fast on Friday—Lonsdale Quay parkade or transit is your friend.
  • Costumes + rain: Add a thin shell; you’ll thank me when the cape turns into a sponge.
  • Photos: Golden hour at Cap Bridge is peak “spooky-pretty.”
  • Candy triage: Keep a “trades” bowl so siblings can bargain instead of bicker. Ancient North Shore wisdom.
