There are approx. 150 properties in West Van with heritage value, yet that number is falling each year as more and more homes are lost to demolition. To try to reverse that trend, the West Van District Council voted to re-establish a heritage committee. The new committee will try to educate owners about the options available to them, such as a heritage revitalization agreement. These agreements typically allow for greater density or other considerations in exchange for legally protecting the home. Let's hope they are successful.
