Aaron grew up in North Vancouver, attending Carisbrooke Elementary, Balmoral Jr. Secondary, and Carson Graham Secondary School. Aaron studied finance at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. He graduated with Honours in the spring of 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Aaron is an active member of the North Shore community. In 2006, Aaron was appointed to a two year term as a director of the Capilano Community Services Society (CCSS), and was recently elected Treasurer for 2007/2008. The CCSS is a non-profit organization that began with the aim to meet community needs in the District and City of North Vancouver. Today the CCSS oversees the running of the Senior's Hub, the Capilano Youth Outreach Services, and the Red Cross Medical Equipment Loan Services Program.

Aaron was also a Director of the North Vancouver Outdoor School Alumni Society (NVOSAS). The NVOSAS is a registered charity aimed at ensuring that the educational programs of the North Vancouver Outdoor School are available to everyone, regardless of financial need.
